Winter Bird Festival: Feb 16-19, 2018
Located on the Pacific Flyway, Hagerman Valley is home to several important Bird Areas with an estimated 30,000 birds wintering over. With warmer temperatures, year round open water, a network of sheltered ponds and marshes, and plenty of food in the nearby fields, it’s possible to see as many as 100 bird species during the 3-day Festival!
The third annual Hagerman Bird Festival REGISTRATION is now open, but tickets are limited! Sign up now before the field trips you want are sold out.
Tickets range from $99 for a single day to $298 for the entire festival, which includes award-winning author and photographer Paul Bannick, Saturday evening keynote speaker, with two best-selling books, the Owl and the Owl & Woodpecker. Sunday evening the keynote speaker is renowned bird sound expert and published author Nathan Pieplow, and his Peterson Field Guide to Bird Sounds.
We have attracted 8 top birders as our Field Trip Hosts, Bill Bridges, Bill Chisholm, Sarah Harris, Terry Rich, Chris O’Brien, Karl Ruprecht, Liz Urban and Poo Wright-Pulliam, our resident artist. Our Hosts will provide a full schedule of hosted river boat birding, field trips, workshops and owl prowls, plus local birders are offering two optional early-bird eagle tree fly-outs. This year the Festival is offering either HOSTED field trips, boat trips, and workshops or SELF-HOSTED field trips, with two catered dinners and keynote speakers.
The Festival Schedule starts Friday noon with vendor exhibits and Festival registration, an evening talk on the Cassia Crossbill, Idaho’s New Endemic Bird Species, and then the Audubon documentary. Friday events, the Sunday afternoon “Birds of Prey” Live Raptor Exhibit and Lecture and the vendor hall will be free and open to the public.
Registrations are prepaid in advance, online registration with credit card payment only with check-in held at Prince Memorial Gymnasium, 160 State Street North, Hagerman.
Net proceeds will help fund the Foundation’s bird conservancy efforts in the Hagerman Valley.
